• What Backup Exec 2010 licences will i need?    (Aaron Hoolachan)
  I'm about to purchase Back Exec 2010 but my head is spinning with what licences/agents and how many of each i require. I'll be backing up 8  x 2003/8 servers, one of which will host Backup Exec 2010.  4 servers have fairly static SQL 2005/8 databases on them. Can i backup these databases without purchasing the SQL agent? 1 server is our DC. Will i need the Active Directory agent for this or would RAWS suffice? 1 is our Exchange server. We use ArcMail Defender for recovering lost mail/corrupt mailboxes, so i'm thinking that we will not need the Exchange Agent installed, just RAWS. Is this so? I'll be backing up to a DELL TL2000 tape library, allocating each daily backup to its particular slot in the library. Will i need the Library Expansion Option to do this? Do each these additional options include RAWS?   Many thanks in advance for any advice given, Aaron

  Hello, after doing some Buffer changes (https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/de/forums/very-slow-tape-backup-after-changing-windows-2003-2008-r2 ) most of our backups work fine. (client based and vSphere API) But we do have some VCB based backups which mounts our fileserver vmdk to the backup system. It's a big vmdk with almost 1.6 TB. This backup is still extremely slow. No more than maximal 10 MB/s are possible. On Windows 2003 i got 20-24 MB/s. I've tried all the tuning parameters from this article: http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?pag... But no one seems to speed up vcb based backups. Best regards Sven

  Hi, Am i correct in thinking that if i wanted ensure my client PC is getting its packages or software distribution from the correct Site Server, i can do this my opening the Altiris Agent properties on the local client, go to the Task Status tab, and see which server is listed as a Task Server?   If its incorrect, is there a way we can manually change it?   Hi there, I've just installed the evaluation version of SEEMS and after installing I always get the following error: "Unable to access IIS" In the Configuration Manager, I cant reconfigure the fields in the "Web Server Configuration"-Tab. My enviroment:  Windows Server 2008 R2   Does someone have an advice?   Thanks in advance

  你是否曾收到以名人為標題的郵件，而情不自禁地點閱呢？根據賽門鐵克郵件安全中心捕捉到的資料，上半年繁體中文垃圾信業者最愛的名人以女性為主，名模、話題明星到網路美女均榜上有名；而信件內容則以色情光碟、病毒及產品宣傳為主。以名人為標題，吸引民眾一探究竟的垃圾信件依舊是業者的愛用招數，當然，其他偽裝成熟人的招呼語（別讓我失望、好久不見、有單身派對你要一起來嗎）、熱門話題及笑話的標題，也是常見的手法。     在人物的挑選上，垃圾信業者偏好模特兒，演員及歌手。此外，外型清新、誹聞較少的女星姓名，也因為形象良好，能帶來點擊率，而被業者所濫用。其他還有知名空姐、知名影星、知名藝人等，以其職業為主要指稱對象的標題。較為特別的是，由於網路美女也逐漸成為大眾注意的焦點，甚至跨足演藝界，因此也被垃圾信業者加入其「關鍵字」資料庫。甚至，網路美女在垃圾信標題的出現機率也逐漸取代模特兒，成為業者的新寵。     從上表中也可以發現，垃圾郵件的標題人物會隨著其媒體曝光率而有所調整。當該人物當月較少在媒體中出現，亦或是已經過度宣傳，使用者可能不再感興趣時，則轉向使用涵義較為模糊、廣泛指稱的「知名○○」、「○○正妹」。英文垃圾郵件也有類似的狀況，只是範圍更為廣泛，只要是最近出現在媒體版面上的名字，不限男女，都有可能被網羅加入標題中，作為吸引使用者開啟的手段，例如去年我們曾經介紹過的麥可傑克遜過世後的各式垃圾郵件（Michael Jackson has “Gone Too Soon.” Spammers Never Let Go），以及近日使用印度影星為號召的釣魚信件（Phishing Site Uses Katrina Kaif as Bait）等。 垃圾郵件業者反覆使用這些名人標題，並樂此不疲的原因，即是利用使用者們對於娛樂業界的好奇；這些信件似乎能夠滿足人們一窺名人背後世界的想法，而吸引較高的郵件點擊率。但如同先前所述，這些垃圾信件雖以名人作為標題，但內容卻跟該名人毫無關係，僅是為了欺騙帳戶使用者開啟該郵件，藉以達到宣傳的目的；更有甚者，假稱附加檔案中為某名人的私密影片，實則放入了木馬程式，若是一時不察而執行了假影片真病毒檔案，還可能使自己的帳號被駭客所盜用。 賽門鐵克提醒用戶不要開啟來路不明的郵件、不要執行不明郵件附檔，並安裝可靠的防毒軟體為您的電腦環境安全把關、定期更新您的防毒軟體，以免因小失大。

  I have a problem when restoring MS Exchange mailbox. Here is my conf : Netbackup server 6.0MP4 on AIX 5.3, Exchange agent 6.0MP4 on Windows 2003 R2 Enterprise The job status window shows these errors : ........ begin reading Error bpbrm (pid=405554) from client svrmtst: ERR - unable to create object for restore : Microsoft information Store:\......... end reading; read time: 0:32:11 Error bpbrm (pid=405554) client restore EXIT STATUS 185: tar did not find all the files to be restored ... the restore failed to recover the requested files (5) What is the problem ?

  Hallo, wir haben folgendes Problem mit BackupExec 2010 und ich wäre für jegliche Hilfe sehr dankbar. Es handelt sich dabei um folgendes System: Windows SBS 2008 SP1 x64 mit SQL 2005 und Exchange 2007 drauf. BE ist wie gesagt 2010 Beim letzten Backup ist folgendes Problem aufgetreten: Fehlerkategorie: Systemfehler Fehler: e0008516 - Die für einen Snapshot angegebenen Ressourcen verfügen über keine gültigen Daten. Überprüfen Sie, ob Dateien gelöscht oder umbenannt wurden. Zusätzliche Informationen zu diesem Fehler finden Sie unter der Verknüpfung V-79-57344-34070 Ich weiß nun nicht wo ich bei diesem Fehler ansetzen soll weil ich auch sonst eigentlich keinen passenden KB Artikel oder sonstige Infos finden konnte. Falls hier jemand einen Tipp für mich hat wäre ich dafür sehr dankbar. mfg Antibus
